Preparation of a masterplan report and subsequent detailed planting plans for 10,000 advanced trees on the extensive Essendon Fields Airport Business Park site. The implementation program is ambitious, with the intended completion of the target over a five year period. The work included the design and establishment of an on site tree farm. The design needed to fit with the parameters of the Airports Authority guidelines to minimise bird strike. The design was undertaken concurrently with the preparation of a strategy for harvesting stormwater from the extensive hangar roofs on the site, and an integrated centrally controlled automatic irrigation system. The 10,000 tree target will now be exceeded in the near future, ahead of schedule.
