Landscape design for a large stand alone regional shopping complex. Included a detailed site investigation of the former Nokia industrial site, and identification of the existing ‘300 plus’ trees, including Metasequoias’ up to 20 metres high. It was a planning requirement that 90% of the trees were retained and relocated on the new development site.
The design emphasis was based on the ‘Loha’ philosophy were a ‘natural’ environment, and use of natural materials, and water, contributed to a harmonious and natural setting for the shopping centre users and workers. The landscape design played a key role in the overall design, and the subsequent commercial success of the centre – which has received numerous international industry awards.
